9.5.11 - Decorative Painting

When I was teaching an adult class back in the spring, I stumbled across a book called The World of Ornament, an encyclopedia of textiles, decorative objects and patterned works from different cultures.  The book inspired a printmaking lesson but I kept rambling about it to other people, and a friend was kind enough to buy it for me.  Where others might respond to intricate patterns with, "that gives me a headache", I think,  "That looks like hours of repetitive fun!" As such, I started creating patterns and painting them on some unused terracotta pots that were in my apartment.  The one below is still in progress.

I scanned and digitally colored some sketchbook drawings I've done recently.  I thinking these would make interesting textiles.
